On December 10th, Guangzhou Zhiguang Electric Co., Ltd. (short as Zhiguang Electric) successfully held the groundbreaking ceremony for the second phase expansion project of the 200MW/400MWh independent energy storage power station and the third phase construction project of the grid side independent energy storage power station on the Baimiao plot in Qingcheng District, Qingyuan. The Qingcheng independent energy storage project has now entered a new stage of comprehensive construction.

Attending the project foundation laying ceremony were Huang Jianping, member of the Standing Committee of Qingyuan Municipal Committee, Deputy Secretary of the Party Group and Deputy Mayor of Qingyuan Municipal Government, Zhuang Zhihui, Deputy Secretary of Qingcheng District Committee and District Mayor, Chen Zhi, Deputy Secretary General of Qingyuan Municipal Government, Chen Weirong, Deputy District Mayor of Qingcheng District, Ou Limin, Chief Economist of Qingyuan Development and Reform Bureau, Chen Kai, Deputy Director of Qingyuan Statistics Bureau, Li Yongxi, Chairman of Zhiguang Electric and Jiang Xinyu, President of Zhiguang Electric, Wu Wenzhong, Vice President of Zhiguang Electric and Chairman of Xidu Power Investment, Lu Qingzhen, President of China Xi Du Group Holdings Limited, Liu Miao, Executive President, Lu Zhuoxing, Vice President, and other relevant government department leaders and project design, construction, and other reant government department and project leaders.

Qingyuan Qingcheng District Baimiao Plot is undergoing an expansion of its  Independent Energy Storage Power Station ( Phase II), planning to add a 100MW/200MWh capacity. Concurrently, Qingcheng District Vocational Education City Plot will host the construction of a grid-side Independent Energy Storage Power Station (Phase III), with a planned capacity of 208MW/416MWh. These projects aims to alleviate peak power supply pressure in Qingyuan, enhance the safety and stability of the power system, boost local economic development, and served as important references for the construction and operation of ultra-large-scale sole storage power plants in the industry.

Chen Weirong stated that Qingcheng District is vigorously promoting the optimization and adjustment of electric power and energy structure guided by the goal of achieving "dual carbon. These two projects will significantly improve the reliability and stability of the local electric power supply, enhance the efficiency of new energy development and utilization, and become a major growth drive for strengthening Qingyuan energy storage industry chain. This, in turn, will promote high-quality Qingcheng District Economic and social development.

Li Yongxi stated that Zhiguang Electric, the controlling shareholder of Xidu Power Investment, financed the construction of the first phase of the Qingcheng Energy Storage Station project, which is the largest independent energy storage power station in Guangdong Province. As a replicable demonstration benchmark, the completion of the second and third phases will bring the Stations’ cumulative capacity to 1GWh. This achievement will significantly impact the independent energy storage business both provincially and nationally, marking a milestone in the development of the electrochemical energy storage industry.

Wu Wenzhong highlighted that the project’s smooth progress of the project thanks to the support of the leaders at all levels and the involvement of numerous partners. The project will continue to uphold high standards and strict requirements throughout the whole construction, aiming to become a leading benchmark project in the industry. It will be operational as soon as possible, driving high-quality development of Qingcheng District and Qingyuan City, and contributing to the establishment of a new power system and the achievement of Dual-carbon Goal.

As new energy becomes more widespread, the importance of energy storage power station as critical supporting facilities is increasingly evident. The construction of Zhiguang Electric Qingyuan energy storage project will address intermittent and unstable nature of new energy generation, enhancing the utilization and reliability of new energy.

The second and third phases of Zhiguang Electric Qingyuan energy storage project have undergone comprehensive technological upgrades. Advanced energy storage battery packs and electrical control systems have been adopted to enhance efficiency and safety. Additionally, the project includes the construction of fire protection systems, office buildings and other infrastructure to ensure the stable operation and convenient management of the energy storage power plant.

Zhguang Electric’s independent energy storage project continues to expand from Qingyuan to Meizhou, and now to Qingyuan Phase II and Phase III, showcasing the company's strong momentum in the field of new energy storage. We eagerly anticipate the smooth completion of the Qingyuan project, which, as the largest independent energy storage power station in Guangdong Province with a total capacity of over 1GWh, will inject fresh energy into the development of the new energy industry chain.
